What to Wear Wednesdays - boho beauty

This outfit was very much inspired by our lovely merchandiser Sassi, who is responsible for creating all the beautiful windows in our Stratford and Warwick shops.  She can basically wear anything and look amazing.  The dress in today's What to Wear Wednesday is the Main Stage dress, by new Aspire brand T Style (check out their other items in our brand new New in section), and Sassi wore it so well that I had to make an outfit featuring it for you.  Here's Sass in it...

And here's today's outfit!

Those awesome gladiator sandals are also new in, and an absolute bargain at £29, and the Flutters and Fancies satchel is the most recent addition to the popular Flutters and Fancies range.  Très boho chic!

What to Wear Wednesdays - the LBD

There is no rule which states the Little Black Dress (or LBD if you're "in the know") should be reserved for winter-time cocktails and office parties.  The fact remains, the LBD owes its popularity to its colour - or rather, lack of; a badly cut dress in black will look miles better than the same style in a different colour.  Especially if that colour's luminous yellow.  Black is flattering.  I don't know the exact physics behind it, but I'm sure if you've got the time, Wikipedia could help you out there.

Don't be scared to wear black in summer.  It's not ideal for the daytime because black absorbs heat, but if you're going out in the evening, a LBD twinned with a healthy tan can make you look the bees' knees.  The Tolouse dress is also good for covering up any unsightly tan lines you might have developed during the day.

WTWW - LBD

Use those Girls Night Out shoes for their true purpose in life and treat yourself to some cocktails with your lady friends!

What to Wear Wednesdays - Casual Maxi

I've already written about the many winning features of the mighty maxi dress and the Summer Fern maxi by Fever (£65) is no exception.  It's a beautifully light cotton, which makes it ideal for the hot hot summer I'm sure we'll be experiencing soon enough, and it's versatile too - you can wear it as a strapless bandeau dress as shown below, or you can add the shoulder straps which are included.  I've gone for a casual look this week with this maxi dress, and I reckon this outfit would look brilliant at a festival (one with lots of sun and no mud) - especially if you're hanging out backstage.  I'd be tempted to get a straw hat involved as well to shield my pale skin from all that nasty UV radiation.

What to Wear Wednesdays - Beach Chic

Ok, so it's not as warm as it was last month, and if the weather people tell me there's snow in Newcastle one more time I may cry, but I comfort myself with the fact that it is still technically Spring, so we've not much right to complain.  Next month, however, is June, which will undoubtedly bring cloudless skies and non-stop sunshine (except for at night, obviously), and you will experience a phenomena known as Beach Craving.  If you've not heard of Beach Craving before, it's because I've just coined the term, but it does exist!  British people naturally flock to the seaside in the summer!  It's as innate as breathing or hating sprouts.

However, there's no point strolling down to the beach looking like you've been so distracted by the sun that you've experienced some form of blindness whilst getting dressed.  That will not do.  So take my advice, and get Beach Chic:

The pearls might be a little much for bucket and spade activities, but they're excellent for taking this outfit from beach to bar.

What to Wear Wednesdays - Rockin' the Rockabilly look

I think there's something ever so glamorous about the Rockabilly pin-up girls of the 50s, and the modern take on the style stays true to the original, with emphasis on bold colours and strong shapes.  It's a look which embraces curves and is sexy without being revealing, and makes you look 100% woman.  Here's all you need to become your town's answer to Dita von Teese*:

What to Wear Wednesdays - Get Nautical

Avast ye, sailor!  Nautical is one of those trends that has been popular for several Spring/Summer seasons in a row in recent years, and it's easy to see why.  With three main colours - red, white and blue - it's easy to mix and match pieces, and it's a fun trend; these are the kind of clothes which make you feel like playing.  So please give a hearty 'Ahoy!' to the Aspire take on Nautical...

Shiver me timbers, cap'n, that outfit looks pretty shipshape to me! (Sorry)

What to Wear Wednesdays - 50s Style

Welcome to a brand new regular feature of the Aspire Style blog entitled What to Wear Wednesdays (catchy, no?), where we will showcase an outfit completely made of Aspire products!  Yes, I know it's terribly biased, but we are a) full of so much loveliness you don't need to go elsewhere and b) running a business here, people!

Those of you who subscribe to our newsletter will have seen the arrival of new brand Tara Starlet to the Aspire Style website and shops, and those of you who aren't subscribers need to get involved here!  Tara Starlet is a London-based Mother and Daughter team who take their inspiration from the 1940s and 1950s, and we've used their beautiful full circle prom dress as the centrepiece of this 50s style outfit:

Items in this set:
Tara Starlet full circle prom dress : Clothing : Products : Aspire..., £75
Silver pearl necklace : Jewellery : Products : Aspire Style |..., £6.95
Rose ring - pastels : Jewellery : Products : Aspire Style |..., £4.95

Poetic Licence Girls Night shoes, black : Shoes : Products : Aspire..., £69

All products are available from www.aspirestyle.co.uk including the very stylish sunglasses from Jeepers Peepers, another exciting new Aspire brand!  I think this outfit is perfect for picnics in the park, or parties, or pretending you're in Grease and doing the hand jive, or going up to boys and saying "tell me about it, stud".
